Finishing tips

  • Spalted maple has softer spots that drink oil: apply the Basecoat Sealer evenly before the first Tru-Oil coat.
  • Sand the veneer by hand and lightly only; never power-sand the top.
  • Leave the ebony fretboard unfinished.
  • Apply thin coats of Tru-Oil rubbed in, with light sanding between coats.
