Translucid red nitrocellulose lacquer spray for applying a transparent Classic Gibson-style red colour coat after the primer/sealer. This transparent red nitro spray lets the natural wood grain show through for a rich, layered colour, and is in stock in the UK with fast UK delivery.

Usage

This translucent red guitar lacquer is applied after the primer/sealer coat to add colour and an extra protective layer for a durable result. The translucid red finish is transparent, revealing and highlighting the wood grain rather than hiding it — ideal for a Gibson translucid red guitar finish look.

Compatibility

Compatible with nitrocellulose primer, varnish, grain filler and polish pastes. Browse the full nitrocellulose guitar finish range for matching products.

Preparation & Application

  • Shake vigorously for 2–5 minutes before use.
  • Apply thin coats to avoid drips and ensure homogeneous coverage.
  • Spray in a low-humidity environment with a uniform movement at approximately 20 cm distance.
  • Wait 12–24 hours between coats; optionally sand lightly between coats.
  • Apply a primer and sand to 400 grit before colour coats.

Safety

Nitrocellulose is toxic; use goggles, mask and gloves. Apply outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.

Guitar kit finishes that showcase the grain

This translucid red nitrocellulose lacquer, available in the UK, highlights figured veneers by revealing the wood grain, making it ideal for builds featuring quilted, spalted or flame patterns where a transparent red colour adds depth without masking the timber.
