Dartfords guitar paint in Translucent Blue Light (400 ml) — a translucent blue spray paint that lets the wood grain show through for a vibrant blue lacquer guitar finish on guitars and ukuleles. In stock in the UK with fast UK delivery.

Usage

Apply this Dartfords nitrocellulose guitar lacquer after the primer/sealer coat. It delivers the colour design plus an additional protective layer for a durable, professional guitar finishing result.

Finishing Sequence

  • Electric guitar neck (natural finish): 1 spray finishing product (gloss or matte).
  • Electric guitar body: 1 spray primer, 1 spray colour lacquer, 1 finishing spray (gloss or matte).
  • Classical or acoustic kit (body and neck): 1 base spray and 2 finishing sprays (gloss or matte).
  • Ukulele kit: 1 to 2 finishing sprays (gloss or matte).

Compatibility

Works with our colour lacquers, varnishes, grain filler and polishing products. Pair it with our wider nitrocellulose guitar finish range for a consistent system.

Preparation & Application

  • Shake vigorously for 2–5 minutes before use.
  • Spray thin layers to avoid drips and ensure homogeneous coverage.
  • Apply in a low-humidity environment, using a uniform movement at approximately 20 cm distance.
  • Wait 12–24 hours between coats; lightly sand between coats if desired.
  • Apply a primer and sand to 400 grit before spraying.

Safety

This product is toxic; use protective gear (goggles, mask, gloves) and apply outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.

Getting an even translucent blue lacquer guitar finish

With a transparent blue spray paint, even build-up is everything — uneven coats read as patchy colour over the grain. Use multiple thin passes rather than heavy ones to minimise runs, keep a steady distance of about 20 cm and overlap each pass slightly for consistent coverage.

Allow adequate drying time (12–24 hours) between coats of this Dartfords nitrocellulose guitar lacquer, and consider a light sand between coats to level the surface before the next application. Available with fast UK delivery from our UK warehouse.
