Guitar Build Levels and Challenges
The EXP guitar kit is perfect for intermediate builders, offering a balanced challenge that covers every step of the build. Painting the slightly porous mahogany body requires minimal grain filler compared to ash but demands careful attention to avoid drips along its unique contours, while the mahogany neck also benefits from light filling. Assembly is straightforward yet engaging—the straight, glued-in neck calls for an initial string-action check since it can’t be repositioned, our solderless wiring system and pre-drilled bridge holes remove guesswork, and the soft wood makes pre-drilling and screwing effortless. Finally, the Tune-o-matic bridge allows precise intonation and overall action adjustments; although it doesn’t provide individual string fine-tuning like a tremolo, the removable nut lets you customize string spacing, and the absence of a neck angle further simplifies setup.
