Guitar Build Levels and Challenges
The RK Guitar Kit is ideal for intermediate builders. The mahogany wood of the guitar body is slightly porous but not as much as ash, requiring less grain filler for a smooth finish, although the body shape can make painting a bit tricky, so be cautious of droplets. The kit features a set-in neck without inclination, meaning careful attention and an initial string action check are necessary, as gluing is irreversible. Wiring is simple thanks to our solderless system, and the bridge pots are pre-drilled, eliminating the need to calculate the bridge position or scale length (though we still recommend measuring for accuracy and learning purposes). The mahogany is soft, making pre-drilling and neck pocket screwing hassle-free. Finally, the tune-o-matic trapeze bridge allows for overall intonation and string action adjustments, and while it doesn't allow for individual fine-tuning like a tremolo, the nut can be easily removed for customization. The lack of neck inclination simplifies the initial setup of the string action.
