Using black grain filler in guitar finishing
Our grain filler product is black tint and can be used to darken the wood, for instance as a first step to dye a veneer such as flame, quilted or spalted maple as proposed on our guitar kits.

Waterbased black grain filler for filling wood pores on open-pore woods to achieve a clean, smooth high gloss finish and reduce sealer, lacquer and paint usage.
Usage
Grain filler is used to fill the pores of the wood. It is advised for open-pore woods to achieve a clean, smooth high gloss finish and to reduce the quantity of sealer, lacquer and paint required.
The open-pore woods include Ash, Mahogany, Rosewood, Jatoba and Paulownia.
Compatibility
Waterbased grain filler compatible with nitrocellulose, polyurethane and waterbased guitar finishing products.
Preparation and Application
- Use sandpaper with a grain of 400.
- Use a scraper such as an old credit card.
- For stained finishes, the grain filler can be mixed with dyes to achieve the desired tone.
