Type: Alcohol-based dye  |  Color: Teak  |  Volume: 230 mL  |  Drying: Quick-drying  |  Mixing: Intermixable for custom shades

  • Preserves natural wood figure
  • Suitable for electric guitars and DIY kits
  • Works well on quilted, spalted, or flame maple tops
  • Build custom colors by intermixing dyes
  • High transparency for grain visibility

Alcohol based teak dye in a warm Teak tone for use within transparent finishing systems. This teak wood dye lets you tint a teak guitar body whilst keeping the natural grain on full display. In stock in the UK with fast UK delivery.

Usage

Apply after grain filler (if used) and before the sealer coat for best control of stain intensity. The teak dye can also be mixed with grain filler, but applying it after filling gives better control. Use several thin layers to build colour. Do not combine the dye with non-transparent products such as solid colour lacquer or white primer.

Compatibility

Compatible with the store’s nitrocellulose, polyurethane, and water-based finishing systems as well as grain filler. Use only with transparent finishing steps: natural grain filler, clear sealer, transparent colour lacquer, and clear varnish. Recommended with water-based lacquer systems. Preparation & Application

This teak wood dye should be diluted in a solvent such as water or white spirit for direct application to wood. If using alongside water-based products, use white spirit for better mixing. Typical dilution: 3%–10% in water depending on application method. Apply with a tack cloth. For veneered bodies, apply light coats and allow to dry between coats to avoid lifting the veneer.

Grain Enhancement Tip

For pronounced grain, first apply a black dye and sand back; then apply the teak colour. Black remains in deep figure, enhancing 3D effects on quilted, flamed, spalted, or ash burl veneers. Browse more shades of guitar wood dye to layer alongside transparent colour lacquer and highlight figure.

Getting a 3D figured top effect with teak dye

Teak wood dye is ideal for revealing wood grain, especially on quilted, flame, or spalted veneers. For an enhanced effect, apply a black base dye and sand back before applying your final teak colour. You can also stain before clear sealer, then adjust after sealing to fine-tune intensity. Pair this alcohol based teak dye with a transparent colour lacquer to showcase the figure on a teak guitar body or quilted and flame maple. Dispatched from our UK warehouse for fast UK delivery.
