Alcohol based Pine Honey dye for warm, golden guitar finishing applications. This pine honey dye brings a rich honeyed tone to figured tops and natural wood, with fast UK delivery from our UK warehouse.

Usage

Use after applying grain filler (if used). It can be applied before or after the sealer coat; applying between grain filler and sealer gives better control of stain intensity. Do not use with non-transparent products such as solid colour lacquer or white primer.

Compatibility

Compatible with nitrocellulose, polyurethane, and water-based finishing systems, as well as natural grain filler, clear sealer, transparent colour lacquer, and clear varnish.

Preparation & Application

This honey wood dye for guitar is alcohol based and should be diluted in a solvent such as water or white spirit for direct application to wood. If used alongside water-based products, prefer white spirit for better mixing. Typical dilution is between 3% and 10% with water depending on application method. Apply in several thin coats, allowing drying between coats; a tack cloth is an easy applicator. On veneered bodies, avoid heavy wetting and let coats dry to prevent veneer lift.

Grain Enhancement Tip

For a pronounced 3D effect on figured woods (quilted, flame, spalted, ash burl): apply a black dye base, sand back, then stain with the desired colour. Black remains in the deepest figure, and the colour coats enhance the rest. You can also combine black dye with clear sealer (or apply black before sealer), then follow with a transparent colour lacquer.
