Guitar Build Levels and Challenges
The Iceman Guitar Kit is ideal for beginner builders thanks to its accessible design and straightforward assembly. The body, made from porous ash wood, does require at least two coats of grain filler for a smooth finish, and its intricate contours demand some care during painting—especially to avoid paint droplets. Assembly is simple: the bolt-on neck has no inclination, making alignment easier, and while ash is a hard wood, pre-drilling solves any difficulty when inserting screws. The bridge posts come pre-drilled, so there’s no need to calculate scale length or bridge placement—though we still recommend checking for learning and precision. Wiring is effortless with our solderless system. In terms of setup, the bridge functions much like a tune-o-matic, allowing intonation for each string and global string height adjustments. While it lacks the individual flexibility of a tremolo, the nut is easily removable for further customization. The absence of neck angle also simplifies early string action adjustments.
