Guitar Build Levels and Challenges

This flame maple parlor kit is best suited for advanced builders. The mahogany body is slightly porous—less than ash—so it requires minimal grain filler, and its smooth, curvy shape makes painting relatively easy. The maple neck is ready without filler.

Assembly is more complex: the set-in neck demands precision, as gluing is permanent. Check alignment and string action beforehand. Whilst the wiring is simple thanks to the solderless system, the absence of a control cavity means pot installation requires more care.

Pre-drilled bridge holes remove scale length calculations, but measuring is still recommended. For setup, the trapeze-style tailpiece allows intonation and overall string height adjustment, though not as finely as a tremolo. The set neck angle and single-action truss rod require getting the action close to ideal from the beginning.

Key Features

  • Semi-hollow body with a Flame Maple top.
  • Canadian maple neck with rosewood fretboard, 20 frets, bone nut.
  • Chrome hardware with Trapeze tailpiece, 2 P90 soap bar pickups, and a 3-way switch.
