This product is a DIY Mockingbird style guitar kit inspired by a model famously used by Slash. It features a high-quality Canadian maple neck with a set-in design and mahogany solid wood body, providing excellent sustain and versatility.
Guitar Build Levels and Challenges
The Mockingbird Guitar Kit is ideal for beginner builders thanks to its accessible assembly and setup, even if the painting stage poses a moderate challenge. The mahogany body is only mildly porous, requiring less grain filler than ash, but its complex shape demands careful painting to avoid an orange peel effect, while the maple neck doesn’t require any filler. Assembly is straightforward with a bolt-on neck that requires no inclination, and although the tremolo bridge adds a slight learning curve—requiring proper positioning, installation, and adjustment—it remains entirely manageable with guided steps. Wiring is made simple through our solderless system. For sound and playability, the tremolo bridge enables precise adjustment of intonation and string height, and the flat neck angle helps streamline the initial setup.
